He was a former professor at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. He has won awards for his work, including 11 Best of Show Awards at the New Orleans Wildfowl Carvers and Collectors Guild, The Cajun Heritage Festival in Larose, and the South Louisiana Wildfowl Carving Competition in Houma, Louisiana.
